The BJP has criticized the Congress party’s ‘Kisan Chakkajam’ agitation in Madhya Pradesh, accusing it of misleading farmers and disrupting the state’s atmosphere. Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha State President Jaipal Singh Chavda stated that the Congress State President Jitu Patwari is inconveniencing farmers and the public for personal political gain. Chavda highlighted the BJP government’s efforts in clearing Rs 2,800 crore in farmers’ loan dues, raising the Minimum Support Price for wheat, and providing bonuses over the Minimum Support Price.
The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, is personally overseeing wheat procurement centers and engaging with farmers to address their concerns. Chavda emphasized the increase in wheat procurement targets from 78 lakh tonnes to nearly 100 lakh tonnes due to irrigation expansion, resulting in a bumper harvest this year. He criticized Congress for negative politics, leading to electoral defeats, and urged constructive collaboration with the government instead of spreading misinformation.
The BJP leaders condemned the Congress protest, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing farmers’ incomes, reducing input costs, and mitigating agricultural risks. State Minister Tulsiram Silawat in Indore, Minister Govind Singh Rajput in Sagar, and other BJP leaders issued strong statements against the Congress’s agitation. The BJP leaders collectively affirmed the government’s dedication to safeguarding farmers’ interests, contrasting it with what they perceive as Congress’s narrow political objectives.
Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Umang Singhar, expressed support for the farmers, highlighting concerns about wheat procurement, farmers’ distress, and the government’s agricultural policies. Singhar emphasized the need to address the challenges faced by farmers and pledged the Congress party’s unwavering support for farmers’ rights and interests.
