The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government for opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in West Bengal. BJP accused the government of creating a false narrative about the voter verification process, which is crucial for public and national interests.
During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Lok Sabha member Sambit Patra referenced the Chief Justice of India’s remarks on SIR to intensify the criticism against the Trinamool Congress administration. He highlighted this as a significant setback for the party and its leader.
Patra mentioned that both the Congress party and Trinamool Congress had tried to influence voters with misleading statements, such as claiming that SIR was illegal and a political tactic to favor the BJP. However, these claims were refuted by the Supreme Court during the hearing of Mamata Banerjee’s plea.
