The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their silence on the killings of minorities in Bangladesh. BJP J&K spokesperson, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, expressed concern over the rising violence against minorities in Bangladesh. He questioned the silence of regional leaders like Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti regarding the brutal killings and lynchings of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

Bhat drew a parallel between the current crisis in Bangladesh and the dark days of 1990 in Kashmir. He highlighted the similarities between the targeted killings, atmosphere of fear, and forced exodus of minorities in both situations. Bhat emphasized that the pattern of violence in Bangladesh is reminiscent of the tragic events faced by Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.

Expressing disappointment over the silence of Kashmiri leaders, Bhat criticized them for not speaking out against the atrocities in Bangladesh. He pointed out the hypocrisy of leaders like Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who are vocal about minor incidents in India but remain silent on the killings in Bangladesh. Bhat stressed the importance of protecting minorities and criticized the regional parties for their selective sympathy driven by political motives.

Bhat called on the Central government to take strong action on the international stage to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. He emphasized that the protection of minorities is not just an internal matter but a civilizational responsibility. Bhat urged unity among the people of India beyond party lines to condemn the atrocities in Bangladesh unequivocally.
