The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the alliance between Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, stating that it would lead to a historical defeat for them. The BJP highlighted the division in the history of both parties when Uddhav Thackeray aligned with Congress and Sharad Pawar, emphasizing that Raj Thackeray’s partnership with Shiv Sena would result in defeat.
Maharashtra Information Technology Minister and BJP representative for BMC elections, Ashish Shelar, expressed disapproval of the Thackeray cousins’ collaboration, accusing them of teaming up to exploit the BMC treasury. Shelar questioned their sudden unity, insinuating that their motives were not in the interest of Mumbai or its residents but rather for personal gain and power.
State BJP media in charge Navnath Ban alleged that the alliance between Shiv Sena and MNS was driven by power ambitions rather than a focus on Mumbai’s development. He criticized the lack of a development agenda and viewed their collaboration as a sign of weakness and impending defeat for both parties. Ban also called out Uddhav Thackeray for halting projects beneficial to Mumbaikars during his tenure as Chief Minister.
