A delegation from the BJP submitted a memorandum to Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot’s office, requesting increased security for Opposition leaders. The delegation, led by State President B.Y. Vijayendra, highlighted concerns about the alleged deterioration of law and order in the state. They also urged the Governor to send a special report to the President of India regarding what they termed a “constitutional crisis.”

The memorandum, presented at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru, condemned an alleged egg attack on BJP legislators during a protest outside the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office. The BJP called for immediate action against those responsible for the attack and demanded that cases be registered under non-bailable sections.

Following a BJP protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha, State President B.Y. Vijayendra accused the Congress of inciting unrest in the state. He criticized the Congress for politicizing the NEET issue instead of engaging in constructive debate in Parliament.

Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka claimed that the egg attack on BJP legislators was premeditated and occurred despite police protection. Ashoka questioned the security lapse that allowed the attack to happen and accused the police of negligence. He also alleged that the incident was part of a broader pattern of political intolerance.

Several BJP MLAs, Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), and party office-bearers participated in the protest at Vidhana Soudha before accompanying the delegation to submit the memorandum at Lok Bhavan.
