A BJP delegation visited the home of a party worker in Hubballi, Karnataka, who was reportedly stripped and assaulted by the police following a complaint from a Congress councillor regarding a voter revision dispute. The delegation, led by R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, demanded justice for the victim and called for a judicial inquiry into the incident.
R. Ashoka highlighted that the incident had gained national attention and emphasized the need for transparency. He questioned the police’s inaction during the alleged assault and called for a thorough investigation into the matter. Ashoka condemned the behavior of the police personnel involved, likening it to the actions of Dushasana.
The BJP delegation also objected to the State Women’s Commission’s dismissal of the incident and pointed out that the National Commission for Women had taken notice of the case. They demanded the immediate suspension of the police inspector and others involved until a comprehensive inquiry is conducted. The delegation stressed the importance of uncovering the truth behind the incident and ensuring accountability.
