The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have supported their decision to nominate the mother of a junior doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal for the upcoming Assembly elections. Ratna Debnath, the victim’s mother, has been included in the party’s candidate list for the Panihati Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh emphasized that the party aims to amplify the victim’s voice and ensure justice by providing her with a platform in Bengal’s largest panchayat. He criticized the Trinamool Congress government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, for allegedly protecting the culprits in the case.
Sanjay Saraogi, the Bihar BJP President, lauded the decision to nominate Ratna Debnath, highlighting the importance of respecting women’s rights and empowerment. By offering her a ticket to contest the Assembly polls, the BJP aims to honor her and advocate for women’s causes in the Assembly.
Ratna Debnath, who is also a voter in the Panihati constituency, has been actively involved in the political process. The BJP’s move to nominate her comes after the victim’s parents joined the party, with the central leadership ultimately deciding to field her as a candidate from the constituency.
