The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sent a show-cause notice to Morpal Suman, its candidate in the Anta Assembly by-election, demanding an explanation within three days. Rajasthan BJP President Madan Rathore issued the notice, citing baseless public allegations made by Suman against party office-bearers following his defeat in the bypoll. The party expressed concern over Suman’s breach of discipline by publicly airing grievances that should have been addressed internally.
The notice was prompted by a letter allegedly penned by Morpal Suman that circulated widely on social media recently. In the letter, Suman accused several BJP leaders of contributing to his loss in the election, attributing it not only to the Opposition’s tactics but also to internal interference within the party. Suman highlighted delays in ticket announcements causing confusion among party members and disrupting organizational unity. Additionally, he alleged that certain influential BJP figures supported the Congress candidate during the by-election.
Suman’s letter also raised doubts about the impartiality of the Election Commission’s observer, claiming a lack of neutrality in overseeing the electoral process. Despite alleging misconduct by rival candidates, Suman criticized the authorities for not taking substantial action. The BJP leadership has requested a formal response from Suman regarding these accusations, with further steps contingent on his reply.
