The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka unit praised the India-US trade deal, calling it a historic breakthrough for the economy. BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra highlighted that the agreement, with reduced tariffs at 18 per cent, will bring significant opportunities for farmers, MSMEs, entrepreneurs, and skilled workers. This deal is seen as a boost for the ‘Make In India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, aiming to enhance exports, job creation, and economic growth.
BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized the importance of the agreements between India and the US in strengthening bilateral relations. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for safeguarding India’s national interests globally and leveraging opportunities for the country’s development. Bommai expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister and his team for achieving this milestone, foreseeing new global opportunities for various sectors like agriculture, industries, startups, and skilled labor.
Minister Priyank Kharge criticized the celebration around the reduced tariffs, questioning the benefits of the trade deal. He raised concerns about the alleged pressure from the US on India to purchase fuel and the lack of clarity on the gains for India. Kharge highlighted the need for transparency and clarity on the outcomes of the agreement, expressing skepticism about the perceived benefits.
