BJP Kisan Morcha National President and MP Rajkumar Chahar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing the latest instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme in Hooghly district, West Bengal. Chahar, on behalf of the BJP Kisan Morcha and farmers, appreciated the PM for supporting farmers with direct financial aid and agricultural reforms.
More than 9.44 crore eligible farmers nationwide received over Rs 18,880 crore through the latest instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, providing Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. Chahar highlighted the Modi government’s efforts to enhance farm productivity, reduce input costs, and improve farmers’ access to credit and markets over the past 12 years.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to farmer welfare, Chahar noted the significant increase in the agriculture budget under the Modi administration, reaching nearly Rs 1.25 lakh crore from around Rs 27,000 crore during the UPA era. He also mentioned the distribution of Soil Health Cards to over 22 crore farmers, aiding them in making informed decisions on crop nutrition and fertiliser usage.
Chahar further mentioned the expansion of the Kisan Credit Card network and the promotion of Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs), with over 8,000 FPOs established nationwide. These initiatives have enabled farmers to collectively market their produce, enhance bargaining power, and secure better prices. Additionally, he credited initiatives like Nano Urea and Neem-Coated Urea for reducing reliance on traditional fertilisers and cutting input costs for farmers.
The BJP Kisan Morcha chief criticized opposition parties for allegedly misleading farmers for political gain, contrasting it with the Modi government’s consistent efforts towards farmer welfare. He affirmed that the PM has delivered on commitments to farmers through various welfare and reform measures, benefiting millions of farming families through direct transfers and targeted agricultural programs.
