The BJP has initiated a nationwide campaign named ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for citizens to cut fuel usage amidst the global energy crisis triggered by the West Asia conflict.
This public awareness campaign aims to inspire people to prioritize national interests, save energy, and embrace simpler lifestyles by altering their daily routines. Party leaders and workers will integrate these principles into their activities as part of this drive.
The campaign encourages citizens to avoid buying gold, delay non-essential foreign trips, and endorse ‘Swadeshi’ products. Leaders in NDA-governed states have already reduced their convoys significantly following the Prime Minister’s plea.
PM Modi, along with Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and various government bodies, has begun adopting fuel-saving measures. Many ministers have switched to alternatives like Metro travel and electric vehicles, while also reducing convoy sizes to promote fuel conservation and energy-efficient practices.
Leaders are promoting carpooling, metro, and public transport usage among the general public and party members, suggesting the avoidance of private cars at least one day per week. The campaign also advocates for online meetings and ‘work from home’ policies for 1-2 days weekly to minimize fuel and power consumption.
A target has been set to slash power and fuel consumption by 50% in BJP offices nationwide. Citizens are urged to reduce edible oil consumption by 10%, cut chemical fertilizer use by half, and support natural farming methods.
To encourage simplicity, directives have been issued to limit attendance at welcome events and reduce the number of vehicles in leaders’ convoys. This nationwide response from political figures coincides with escalating global concerns over fuel supplies and energy security due to rising geopolitical tensions and the West Asia conflict.
