Former minister and senior BJP leader D.N. Jeevaraj has raised concerns about alleged criminal activities related to stamp papers used in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). Jeevaraj demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter, claiming that the JJM had been transformed into a “Jal Jeevan Commission” in the Sringeri constituency. Despite over Rs 150 crore being allocated for the scheme, he stated that no households had received water.
Jeevaraj highlighted similarities between the current situation and the infamous stamp paper scam involving Abdul Karim Telgi. He pointed out discrepancies in stamp papers issued under the JJM, alleging that irregularities and fake stamp papers were prevalent. Jeevaraj also expressed concerns about the depth of borewells drilled under the scheme, citing instances where actual depths differed significantly from the billed amounts.
The BJP leader further alleged that individuals close to the local MLA might be involved in the irregularities, suggesting possible complicity. He criticized the construction of overhead tanks under the JJM, claiming that substandard practices were observed. Jeevaraj’s claims were supported by concerns raised by other officials and party members, indicating a broader issue within the implementation of the mission.
