Karnataka BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra described the current political atmosphere in Davanagere South as more than just a BJP wave, likening it to a “tsunami.” Speaking at a large rally for the by-election, he emphasized the determination of the aware and discerning voters to secure victory for BJP candidate Srinivasadas Kariyappa. Vijayendra criticized the Shamanur family, highlighting the need for a common man like Kariyappa to lead for the constituency’s development, rather than affluent elites.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi accused a single family of attempting to dominate Davanagere. Joshi pointed out the family’s multi-generational political presence in the region, expressing concern over the trend of familial ticket distribution. He warned that if the Congress were to win, it could lead to a prolonged monopoly on political representation. Joshi also criticized the Congress party’s performance in Assam and its alleged shortcomings in delivering on promised schemes.

The event saw the participation of various political figures, including Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, candidate Srinivasadas Kariyappa, and other prominent leaders. The procession, starting from Sri Kodandarama Temple in Mandipete and ending at Kaipete, drew a significant crowd of party workers and supporters.
