Senior BJP leader and Karnataka Assembly Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka criticized the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers in Karnataka, labeling it as a misuse of power aimed at suppressing nationalist voices. Ashoka vowed that the BJP Karnataka unit would confront this situation directly to prevent the state from becoming a safe space for divisive elements.
Ashoka accused the Congress government of crossing boundaries in appeasement and taking the wrong side. He highlighted the disparity in treatment, citing the arrest of BJYM Karnataka members for protesting while individuals like Umar Khalid, facing serious charges, were seemingly supported.
Questioning the government’s actions, Ashoka emphasized the silencing of those speaking for the nation and criticized the protection given to controversial figures for political gain. He warned that the current governance in Karnataka reflects a dangerous distortion of democracy, where appeasement drives policy and suppression is a strategic tool.
