Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh expressed optimism about the appointment of a new Governor for West Bengal, hoping for an improvement in the state’s law and order situation. The new Governor, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, replaced the outgoing Governor C.V. Ananda Bose.
Ghosh welcomed the leadership change at Raj Bhavan, stating that the BJP is pleased with the new appointment and anticipates a positive impact on the deteriorating law and order scenario in West Bengal. He highlighted the significance of an IPS officer assuming the Governor’s role and the potential for enhancing the state’s security under his guidance.
The recent developments were triggered by Ananda Bose’s resignation, known for his disagreements with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Following Bose’s departure, R.N. Ravi assumed the position of Governor in West Bengal. The political landscape in the state has been stirred by these changes, with Mamata Banerjee criticizing the appointment process as unilateral and lacking consultation.
Ghosh cautioned against interpreting the Governor’s change as a precursor to imposing President’s Rule in West Bengal. While acknowledging the possibility under worsening circumstances, he emphasized that a new Governor does not automatically signal such a drastic measure. Ghosh also criticized the state’s public infrastructure and healthcare services, attributing the issues to governance failures impacting the common people’s well-being.
