Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari connected the murder of his executive assistant, Chandranath Rath, to Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee’s defeat in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency. Adhikari stated that Rath’s affiliation with him and Banerjee’s loss were the sole reasons behind the killing.
Expressing grief over the incident, Adhikari mentioned that the murder seemed personal and might not have occurred if Rath had not been associated with him or if Banerjee had not lost the election. He assured support to Rath’s family, who demanded the swift arrest and prosecution of the culprits.
Adhikari condemned the murder as a meticulously planned act, emphasizing that the attackers aimed for immediate fatality by targeting vital body parts. He accused the Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the crime, labeling them as a group of criminals working for Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.
The BJP leader alleged that the Trinamool was trying to disrupt law and order before the upcoming swearing-in ceremony. Adhikari appreciated the BJP and the public for their solidarity during this challenging time and noted the support received from Left Front leaders in paying respects to Rath.
Regarding the investigation, Adhikari mentioned that progress had been made, with the recovery of the motorcycle used in the crime.
