Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader V. Muraleedharan won the Kazhakkoottam Assembly constituency by a narrow margin of 428 votes. He credited his victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “pro-people policies.” Muraleedharan highlighted the significance of the BJP’s win in Kerala, where they had previously struggled to make an impact.
Muraleedharan recalled the BJP’s first Assembly win in Kerala in 2016 by veteran leader O. Rajagopal. He emphasized that this victory was not due to a “sympathy factor” but a result of the policies under PM Modi. The former Union Minister praised the Prime Minister’s campaign efforts for energizing party workers and instilling confidence in the BJP.
The closely contested Kazhakkoottam seat showcased the BJP’s increasing influence in a state traditionally dominated by other parties. This victory not only marks a personal milestone for Muraleedharan but also signifies a breakthrough for the BJP in Kerala, strengthening their presence in South India.
