The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu over the next three days, particularly in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Theni districts. This weather pattern is due to a weak trough in the lower atmosphere along the Tamil Nadu coast. Moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is expected in certain areas of north coastal Tamil Nadu, Western Ghats districts, and Puducherry on Tuesday.

The forecast suggests that similar weather conditions will persist in the Western Ghats on Wednesday and Thursday, with moderate rain and thunderstorms at isolated locations. Rainfall activity is anticipated to escalate starting from July 30. Heavy rain is expected in isolated spots in the Nilgiris district, while moderate rainfall is likely in other Western Ghats districts. Light showers are also forecasted in some isolated areas across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

On July 31, heavy rainfall is predicted in isolated places in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Theni districts. Moderate rain is expected in other Western Ghats districts, with light rainfall in isolated areas across the rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The wet spell is projected to continue on August 1, with heavy rainfall expected in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Theni. Moderate showers are also likely in interior Tamil Nadu, north coastal districts, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while light rain may occur in other parts of the state.

The IMD forecasts that moderate rainfall will persist in the Western Ghats districts and north coastal Tamil Nadu in the coming days, with light rain expected elsewhere in the state. Additionally, there is no significant change in maximum temperatures expected across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until July 31. However, temperatures in a few places could be 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal, while the rest of the state is likely to have temperatures close to seasonal averages.

For Chennai, the IMD predicts partly cloudy skies on Tuesday and Wednesday, with light rain and thunderstorms in some areas. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to range between 38 to 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 29 to 30 degrees Celsius.
