BJP leader Shaun George has requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate alleged overseas financial transactions related to the CMRL-Exalogic monthly payment case. He claims that funds from Exalogic Solutions may have been channeled through foreign bank accounts. George alleged that money received by Exalogic Solutions from transactions with Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd. was moved to an account at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank in the UAE.
He further stated that this account was operated by Veena T., daughter of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. George also mentioned that funds from entities like SNC-Lavalin and PricewaterhouseCoopers were deposited into the account, with some of the money later transferred to accounts in the United States. George has urged the ED to extend its current investigation to scrutinize these alleged foreign transactions and banking connections.
Shaun George, speaking to the media, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation based on information received from a credible source. These allegations arise amidst the ED’s ongoing inquiry into the contentious CMRL-Exalogic transactions involving Veena T., the daughter of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. There has been no immediate response from the individuals implicated in the accusations.
The claims made by George have not been independently verified. Shaun George, son of veteran politician P.C. George, has emerged as a vocal critic of Vijayan and his family concerning this case. P.C. George, a seven-time MLA previously associated with various factions of the Kerala Congress before forming his own political party, aligned with the BJP in 2024. Both father and son contested in the recent Assembly elections, where their performances, despite finishing third in their respective constituencies, significantly impacted the competitiveness of the races.
Shaun George has persistently raised concerns regarding the Exalogic case over the past year and has frequently targeted Vijayan in public forums. His confrontational stance against the CPI(M) leadership has also resulted in legal issues: two cases were filed against his father by the police, but he managed to secure bail in both instances, avoiding arrest.
