BJP leaders criticized the Punjab AAP government’s launch of the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s constituency Dhuri, calling it an election stunt ahead of the state Assembly polls. Punjab CM Mann announced the ‘Mothers-Daughters Respect Scheme,’ providing Rs.1,000 for the general category and Rs.1,500 for the Dalit community as a monthly honorarium. The total amount for July, August, and September has been directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon expressed disappointment, labeling the scheme as a betrayal of women and an election gimmick. He criticized the delay in fulfilling the promised financial assistance, contrasting it with BJP’s immediate action in Haryana and West Bengal. Dhillon accused the AAP government of theatrics and criticized their governance under AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
Dhillon predicted AAP’s defeat in Punjab, citing concerns over electricity shortages and agricultural issues. He highlighted the farmers’ protests due to power cuts despite the government’s claims of surplus electricity. BJP leader Sanjay Tandon echoed similar sentiments, questioning the timing of the scheme’s release after years of unfulfilled promises. Tandon criticized the government’s approach and highlighted various challenges faced by the people of Punjab.
