Senior BJP leaders in Gujarat, including Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and State Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia, have condemned Rahul Gandhi for labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as “traitors.” The controversy arose after Gandhi’s remarks during a public address in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, where he accused the BJP and RSS leaders of betrayal.
Sanghavi criticized the Congress leadership for losing direction post-election rejection, shifting from constructive politics to confusion and opposition. He highlighted that questioning national achievements has become a common theme in Congress politics, focusing on defense, governance, and India’s global position.
State Minister Arjun Modhwadia described Gandhi’s comments as a display of frustration, political disappointment, and mental bankruptcy. He deemed the language used against the Prime Minister and Home Minister as inappropriate, attributing it to the Congress leadership’s impaired judgment due to electoral defeats.
The BJP has consistently argued that Rahul Gandhi’s criticism intensifies after electoral losses, attributing the harsh rhetoric to the party’s electoral setbacks. While the BJP views the opposition’s tone as a result of repeated defeats, the Congress asserts that its statements target government policies and accountability, not individual personalities.
