Senior leaders of the West Bengal BJP criticized the Trinamool Congress leadership following the murder of Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of Suvendu Adhikari, the outgoing Leader of Opposition in the state assembly. Adhikari highlighted that Rath, who was not involved in politics and had no criminal record, was killed because of his association with Adhikari and his victory over Mamata Banerjee in the recent elections.
Adhikari emphasized that Rath’s murder was a well-planned act of violence orchestrated with malicious intent. He urged the authorities to swiftly apprehend the culprits and ensure they face legal consequences. Adhikari also urged party members to maintain composure and avoid taking matters into their own hands.
The BJP’s West Bengal president, Samik Bhattacharya, labeled Rath’s murder as a vindictive political scheme. Bhattacharya stressed the importance of maintaining dignity and refraining from retaliatory actions, despite provocations from the Trinamool Congress. He emphasized the party’s commitment to upholding its values and principles.
Rahul Sinha, a BJP Rajya Sabha member, called for a thorough investigation to uncover not only the perpetrators but also the masterminds behind the assassination plot. Sinha insinuated that the directive for the murder may have originated from senior figures within the Trinamool Congress, citing the professional execution of the crime as evidence of a well-funded operation.
Notably, while the Trinamool Congress has demanded a CBI probe into the murder through a social media post, no prominent party leaders have publicly addressed the incident as of yet.
