The BJP-led NDA criticized former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after a video surfaced showing her slapping a Trinamool Congress worker during a protest march in Kolkata against a minor’s alleged rape and murder in Baruipur. The march, ordered by the Calcutta High Court, started from the Ballygunge outpost towards Hazra Crossing in south Kolkata.
BJP MP Dinesh Sharma expressed disapproval, stating that Mamata Banerjee seemed to advocate violence, contrasting the BJP’s stance against violence. He emphasized that those resorting to violence would face consequences, urging the Trinamool Congress to avoid provocative remarks. Sharma called for all political parties to uphold democracy’s dignity.
In further criticism, JD-U national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan remarked that Mamata Banerjee’s reluctance to change could lead to the Trinamool Congress facing more challenges in the future. West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh highlighted the lack of structure in Banerjee’s party, describing it as a gathering of anti-social elements. Ghosh criticized Banerjee for not managing the situation effectively and now resorting to physical actions.
