The Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra organized by the BJP Mahila Morcha in Shimla saw a huge turnout, showcasing the strength of women from all over the state. It was more than just a political gathering, serving as a strong statement on women’s rights, dignity, and involvement in governance. The event was led by Mahila Morcha state President Daisy Thakur in the presence of state party President Rajeev Bindal, state incharge Shrikant Sharma, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and co-in charge Sanjay Tandon.
Payal Vaidya, while addressing the crowd, criticized the Congress, highlighting the significance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam that aimed at securing 33% reservation for women from local bodies to the Parliament. She mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to enhance women’s role in decision-making through a special parliamentary session, which was allegedly thwarted by the Congress and its allies for political motives.
Daisy Thakur condemned the failure of the Bill as a dark day in democratic history, accusing the Congress of using women as mere vote banks and obstructing their true empowerment. State Vice President Rashmi Dhar Sood criticized the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress for neglecting women’s aspirations and failing to ensure their rightful representation in governance.
MLA Reena Kashyap accused the state government of trying to disrupt the rally by misusing administrative resources, particularly by obstructing buses carrying women from Solan and nearby areas. Despite these challenges, the massive turnout demonstrated the failure of such tactics. State President Bindal criticized the Congress for betraying millions of women by blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill, emphasizing the need for increased female participation in governance under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
