Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Agnimitra Paul criticized the Trinamool Congress, alleging it of being “anti-Hindu” and using the “Muslim community for votes.” The criticism stemmed from a protest in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency led by West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari over alleged police interference with Ram Navami preparations.
Paul highlighted that the Trinamool Congress has been biased towards the Muslim community for their vote bank, claiming that even Muslims have realized they were used for votes without benefiting their community. She also accused the party of politicizing the Ram Navami festival and intentionally hurting Hindu sentiments to please the Muslim community.
The BJP MLA emphasized that the people of Bengal are demanding change due to the Trinamool’s focus on religious politics, stating that the recent hindrance faced during Ram Navami celebrations has fueled this sentiment. Paul criticized the West Bengal Police, alleging a lack of independence among senior officials and advocating for a shift towards change.
