In a significant move to enhance rural connectivity, BJP MLA Shakti Raj Parihar from Doda West laid the foundation stone for a Rs 73 crore, 15.3 km infrastructure project. The project, named Assar-Dhansal Road to Patta via Haliya Hirni, aims to improve regional connectivity and facilitate economic growth and easier travel for local residents. This initiative falls under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme.
MLA Parihar emphasized the historical significance of this road construction, marking the first proper road development in the village since independence. Once completed, the road will grant residents improved access to markets, healthcare, and educational facilities. Parihar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Jitendra Singh for their support, noting that the new road will significantly enhance connectivity and the quality of life for the area’s residents.
Furthermore, Parihar elaborated on the PMGSY scheme, launched in 2000 to enhance rural infrastructure nationwide. Phases one, two, and three have been successfully completed, with the fourth phase (Batch I) currently in progress. The Central Government has allocated Rs 4,200 crore for Jammu and Kashmir under this phase, with work already underway on various roads.
Highlighting the BJP’s commitment to fulfilling promises, MLA Parihar underscored the government’s focus on the welfare of remote areas, contrasting it with previous administrations that he claimed neglected residents’ needs. He emphasized that projects like the Patta-Hirni road construction demonstrate the government’s resolve to bridge developmental gaps in backward regions of the state, ensuring every region has access to roads.
The foundation stone-laying event was attended by local leaders, panchayat members, and residents, who expressed optimism that the new road would bring progress and connectivity to Charota Panchayat and surrounding areas.
