Veteran BJP MLA Vungzagin Valte, a member of the Kuki-Zo community, was airlifted from Imphal to New Delhi for advanced medical care after sustaining severe injuries during ethnic violence in May 2023. The 62-year-old legislator had been receiving medical treatment in Delhi and will now be admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram.
Valte’s health deteriorated recently, leading to his transfer to the Churachandpur Medical College and Hospital for intensive care. Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh oversaw the situation closely, arranging an air ambulance for Valte’s evacuation to Delhi.
Accompanied by officials and well-wishers, including two BJP legislators, Valte was shifted from the hospital to Imphal Airport for his journey to New Delhi. Chief Minister Singh expressed his best wishes for Valte’s recovery and bid him farewell as the air ambulance departed for further medical treatment.
