BJP MLAs protested in the Delhi Assembly by raising slogans against AAP leader Atishi for allegedly using insensitive words towards a Sikh Guru during a recent session. Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma expressed disappointment over Atishi’s behavior, stating that she did not participate meaningfully in a special discussion honoring Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Verma highlighted that Atishi neither apologized nor attended the session, causing distress among members.
BJP MLA Kapil Mishra condemned Atishi’s actions as shameful and called for a public apology. Another BJP MLA, Arvinder Singh Lovely, criticized Atishi for showing disrespect towards Guru Sahib and the sentiments of the Assembly. The issue, which occurred during a discussion on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, led to disruptions in the House as AAP MLAs raised concerns about air pollution.
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan refuted the BJP’s claims, accusing them of misrepresentation. He challenged the BJP to present evidence from the recorded Assembly proceedings to validate their accusations. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa emphasized the seriousness of any disrespect shown during discussions related to sacred matters, urging a focus on scheduled topics like pollution instead of raising unrelated issues.
