BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind stated that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had reportedly contemplated joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before switching from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to Congress. Arvind expressed doubts about Reddy’s loyalty, citing his history of changing political affiliations. He compared Reddy’s potential move to align with PM Modi to Suvendu Adhikari’s shift in West Bengal.
Arvind highlighted Reddy’s past transitions between political parties, emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding his future political stance. He mentioned that before joining Congress, Reddy had allegedly considered the BJP, raising questions about his allegiance. Arvind suggested that Reddy’s political trajectory mirrored the “Revanth model” of switching parties.
When asked about the possibility of Reddy joining the BJP, Arvind deferred the decision to the party leadership, stating that it would be determined by the party high command. He noted that while the BJP generally accepts new members, the final decision rests with the leadership. Arvind also criticized the Telangana government led by Reddy for removing a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus driver, B. Ashok, from duty after he advised Congress leaders on protesting strategies.
Arvind condemned the Telangana Congress government’s actions against the bus driver, labeling them as arrogant and high-handed. He expressed support for the driver, criticizing the government’s decision to remove him from duty. Arvind accused the Congress of mishandling the situation and pledged to stand by the driver personally and as a party.
Arvind further criticized the Congress for its stance on rising fuel prices, pointing out that Telangana had some of the highest fuel prices in the country due to state-level taxes. He compared fuel prices in different states, highlighting Telangana’s rates as the highest. Arvind urged the Telangana government to reduce VAT on petroleum products to alleviate the burden on consumers.
