BJP MP Manoj Tiwari criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for refusing to resign after the election loss. Tiwari highlighted that there is no requirement for a Chief Minister to stay in power post-defeat, emphasizing the importance of a smooth transition of power as per the Constitution.
Tiwari pointed out that in a parliamentary democracy, the legitimacy of a government is determined by the numbers in the House. He criticized Banerjee for what he perceived as a negative attitude towards democratic institutions and the Constitution.
Addressing reports of violence in West Bengal, Tiwari accused ruling party workers of a history of political violence. He stressed the need for strict punishment to deter such incidents in the future and criticized Trinamool Congress leaders for what he called “drama” in politics.
Tiwari also supported Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statements on Sanatan Dharma, stating that those who disrespect it are destined to fail. He cited recent examples and echoed Adityanath’s sentiments on the issue.
