Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari commended the government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, referring to it as a special gift for the country on Ram Navami. Tiwari emphasized that this move by the government has averted potential price hikes in fuel due to global tensions.

He expressed confidence that fuel prices will remain stable across the nation following this excise duty reduction. Tiwari highlighted the government’s responsibility towards citizens, stating that any attempt to raise petrol or diesel prices should be countered with the fact that excise duty has been lowered by Rs 10 per litre.

The central government’s decision to slash excise duty by Rs 10 per litre on both petrol and diesel comes in the wake of concerns over a possible surge in prices amid international energy disruptions. Despite the excise cut, retail prices at the pump will not be altered, as clarified by the government, with the reduction aimed at easing the financial burden on public sector oil marketing companies.
