The ruling BJP in Odisha has selected Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar as its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls in the state. The retirement of four current Rajya Sabha members from Odisha has necessitated these elections, including Sujeet Kumar, who is seeking re-election.
The BJP’s Central Election Committee has announced the names of nine candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls across various states, with two nominees hailing from Odisha. Following his nomination, Manmohan Samal expressed gratitude to the party leadership at both the central and state levels for entrusting him with this responsibility.
Sujeet Kumar, a senior BJP leader, also extended his thanks to the people of Odisha and the party’s leadership for their confidence in him. He emphasized his commitment to the development of the Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput (KBK) region and the welfare of the state’s tribal communities, pledging to continue advocating for Odisha’s interests in Parliament.
The party’s decision to renominate Sujeet Kumar for the Rajya Sabha reflects recognition of his contributions to western Odisha. Similarly, Manmohan Samal’s nomination is attributed to his past role in the BJP’s success in the 2024 general elections.
