BJP National President Nitin Nabin has commenced an intensive organisational outreach initiative in Uttarakhand to bolster the party’s structure ahead of the crucial 2027 Assembly elections in seven states. During his visit, Nabin is engaging extensively with party officials, workers, and booth-level staff to evaluate their readiness and gather feedback for the upcoming polls. He is scheduled to meet with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and hold detailed discussions with state ministers to refine election strategies.
The visit to Uttarakhand is seen as the initial phase of a broader nationwide organisational drive by the BJP. Assembly elections are slated for 2027 in Goa, Gujarat, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, with the BJP currently holding power in all except Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Nabin is expected to tour every state heading for elections in the following months, spending around three days in each state conducting extensive meetings with MLAs, office-bearers, and grassroots workers to evaluate the political landscape and fortify the party structure.
In a significant development, Nitin Nabin appointed Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new president of the BJP’s Punjab unit. Dhillon, a former two-time Congress MLA from Barnala who joined the BJP in 2022, is known to be close to former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. The appointment of a Sikh leader to this position is viewed as a strategic move by the BJP to challenge the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab seriously. The decision reflects the party’s efforts to regain political ground in Punjab before the 2027 elections.
Nitin Nabin has already kickstarted early and thorough preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls, as per party insiders. In states where the BJP holds power, he plans to conduct separate meetings with ministers, MLAs, and senior party figures to assess governance performance and devise a comprehensive electoral strategy. Through these early organisational visits and key appointments, the BJP leadership is signaling a meticulous approach towards the forthcoming major electoral cycle.
