Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra disclosed that the ‘Abhimanotsava’ event honoring former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will now take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 9, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah set to attend. Vijayendra highlighted Yediyurappa’s 50 years in public life, emphasizing his dedication as a fighter, farmers’ advocate, and supporter of the underprivileged. The event, expecting over 10 lakh supporters, has been rescheduled to the afternoon due to the BJP Chief Minister’s swearing-in ceremony in West Bengal earlier that day.
Arrangements have been made for transportation, including booking 10,000 buses and anticipating 45,000 to 50,000 cars for supporters. Vijayendra expressed optimism about the overwhelming response, with a significant turnout of seers and followers anticipated. Despite time constraints, efforts were made to invite seers from all districts to partake in the historic celebration on May 9 and offer their blessings. Former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol mentioned plans to celebrate Yediyurappa’s public service and life journey in Chitradurga through a cultural festival, unveiling two books about his life and legislative contributions.
The ceremonial city entry for Yediyurappa is scheduled for the evening of May 8, designed as a cultural festival with 24 folk troupes participating. Organizers are encouraging public participation to ensure the event’s success. Vijayendra also expressed condolences over the passing of former state BJP secretary Jagadish Hiremani, acknowledging his dedicated service to the party and various roles in organizations. Hiremani’s contributions to the birth centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were highlighted, with prayers for strength extended to his family, admirers, and well-wishers.
