Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin submitted his nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, marking his entry into the Upper House. Accompanied by several BJP leaders and supporters, Nabin filed his nomination papers for the crucial election. Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined Nabin at the nomination venue, showcasing a strong display of support before his national political debut.
Nitin Nabin, along with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and others, submitted their nomination papers in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and two Deputy CMs. Additionally, the BJP has nominated Shivesh Kumar as another Rajya Sabha candidate from the state. Upendra Kushwaha, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief, also filed his nomination papers as an NDA candidate from Bihar, where five seats are up for contention in the Upper House elections.
The filing of nominations for Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar witnessed the presence of key political figures, setting the stage for a potentially competitive electoral battle. The elections are scheduled for March 16, with the counting process slated for the same day at 5 p.m., concluding by March 20. A total of 37 new members will be elected to the Upper House from 10 states, including Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana, as the term of outgoing members ends in April 2026.
