The Karnataka unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a protest near the Gandhi statue in Vidhana Soudha, condemning Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s labeling of the Prime Minister as a “terrorist.” Led by BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, the protest also saw Leaders of Opposition R. Ashoka and Chalavadhi Narayanaswamy in attendance.
During the protest, Vijayendra criticized Kharge for his “terrorist” remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the global recognition of Modi’s leadership. He demanded an apology from Kharge to the nation for his statement. Additionally, Vijayendra raised concerns about delayed salaries in various departments, including the police, attributing it to the state’s financial decline.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of making anti-national statements abroad and labeled both Kharge and Rahul Gandhi as anti-India. She went on to suggest that they are influenced by foreign entities, likening them to agents of George Soros.
Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka condemned Kharge’s statement, considering it a grave offense and a disrespect to the country. He criticized Congress leaders for their alleged soft stance during critical incidents and questioned Kharge’s silence on certain issues.
Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, raised doubts about whether Kharge acted independently or under the influence of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He highlighted Kharge’s past controversial remarks and questioned the political wisdom behind labeling the Prime Minister as a terrorist.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol expressed concerns over the motives behind Kharge’s statements and warned of potential consequences for the Congress party. He predicted severe repercussions for Congress due to such remarks against the Prime Minister.
