Responding to criticism from the Congress regarding the BJP’s decision not to consider former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda for the Rajya Sabha, BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra strongly criticized AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and the Congress. Vijayendra questioned the Congress’s credibility in commenting on alliance politics, citing instances of the party’s own alliance dynamics.
Vijayendra accused the Congress of celebrating the defeat of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi despite being part of an alliance and highlighted the party’s shifting political alignments for ministerial positions. He also mentioned the alliance named “INDIA” and criticized the Congress for what he described as a history of divisive politics.
Referring to former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Vijayendra suggested that Deve Gowda himself should provide an authentic account of his treatment. He urged Surjewala to read Deve Gowda’s open letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding his experience. Vijayendra also pointed to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and criticized the Congress’s treatment of senior leaders in Karnataka’s history.
Vijayendra further advised Surjewala to focus on internal disputes within the Congress government in Karnataka rather than commenting on the NDA’s Rajya Sabha nominations. He claimed that such infighting was negatively impacting governance in the state.
