The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially won all three Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh. The party’s candidates, Tarun Chugh, Rajneesh Kumar Agrawal, and Mahesh Kewat, received their election certificates at the state Assembly in Bhopal. These three BJP members were elected unopposed after the Congress candidate’s nomination was rejected.
Tarun Chugh, a national General Secretary of the BJP, is known for his strategic organizational skills. Rajneesh Kumar Agrawal hails from Sagar and Mahesh Kewat represents the Bundelkhand region. Initially anticipated as a contested election, the rejection of the Congress candidate’s nomination led to the BJP’s uncontested victory.
The rejection of the Congress nominee, Meenakshi Natarajan, was due to objections raised during the nomination papers’ scrutiny. With no other valid nominations, the BJP candidates secured their seats without the need for voting. This outcome was attributed to the BJP’s strong legislative majority and organizational presence in the state Assembly.
Following the issuance of certificates, party members and supporters celebrated the victory of the three BJP leaders at the Assembly premises and party office in Bhopal. Meanwhile, the Congress has contested the rejection of Natarajan’s nomination, staging protests in Bhopal and New Delhi against the Election Commission’s decision.
