BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Indian National Congress, dubbing it the ‘Islamabad National Congress’ after an alleged mistake in singing the national anthem at a Congress event in Kerala. Poonawalla accused the Congress of disrespecting national symbols, leading to errors in singing India’s anthem. He highlighted a recent incident at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters where a line of the anthem was sung incorrectly.
Poonawalla emphasized that such errors have happened before, citing a previous incident in Kerala and a similar occurrence during Rahul Gandhi’s yatra where Nepal’s anthem was sung. He suggested that these mistakes reflect a mindset within the Congress leadership influenced by foreign entities. Poonawalla questioned their allegiance to foreign leaders and their tendency to challenge Indian institutions.
The incident occurred during the 141st foundation day celebration of the Indian National Congress at the KPCC office. Despite the incorrect rendition of the anthem, no leader intervened to correct the mistake. The video of the incident went viral on social media, drawing criticism from opposition parties and the public. This is not the first time the Congress has faced backlash over anthem-related errors, with a similar incident earlier in the year also sparking public outrage.
