Several workers and volunteers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gathered outside West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata to celebrate the party’s strong performance in the elections. They raised slogans like ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘BJP Zindabad’, and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Police intervened to maintain order as the crowd grew in numbers.
As per Election Commission trends, the BJP was leading in 194 seats, establishing a significant lead over the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. In Kharagpur, BJP supporters clashed with Trinamool Congress supporters as they celebrated the early lead. Police presence was increased to ensure peace amid the political tensions.
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee released a video message expressing confidence in the Trinamool Congress’s prospects. She urged her party candidates and counting agents to remain at the counting centers until the end. Banerjee criticized the BJP’s strategy, alleging that they had halted counting in many constituencies after just a few rounds to create a misleading impression.
