The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reaffirmed its dedication to shaping a prosperous and well-governed Punjab, citing Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s governance as a blueprint for the state’s future. The party leaders in Chandigarh expressed confidence in ousting the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections to steer Punjab in a new direction. Kewal Singh Dhillon assumed office as the Punjab BJP President, emphasizing Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s rule as a source of motivation.
Among the dignitaries present at the event were Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, BJP National Vice-President Saudan Singh, and other prominent BJP members. Dhillon, in his address to party workers, envisioned a Punjab akin to the era of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, characterized by prosperity, respect for all faiths, and fearlessness among Punjabis. He urged BJP members to uphold Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development and assured that the party would earn the trust of Punjab’s populace through this approach.
The BJP leadership, including National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, outlined plans to establish a government in 2027 inspired by Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s governance principles. Chugh emphasized the party’s commitment to lead Punjab towards progress, security, and social cohesion, encapsulating the essence of “Khalsa Raj.” Introducing a new slogan, “Na Aapda, Na Kaapda, Punjab Mangda Bhajpa,” Chugh asserted the BJP’s capability to combat issues like drug abuse, gangsterism, and corruption in Punjab.
Former State BJP President Jakhar highlighted the party’s historical sacrifices for Punjab’s welfare and unity, underscoring the BJP’s dedication to preserving social harmony over electoral victories. He criticized divisive politics in Punjab, attributing the solution solely to the BJP. Another former State BJP President, Ashwani Sharma, stressed the collective effort needed to rid Punjab of societal challenges. Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary controversies and acknowledged the presence of BJP leaders Preneet Kaur and Jai Inder Kaur at the event.
