Haryana is set to revamp its sports ecosystem by updating the state’s Sports Policy, nurturing future Olympians through a talent development program, and offering athletes seamless access to government services via a unified digital platform. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi reviewed these initiatives, which emerged from a national conference chaired by the Prime Minister in December 2025.
The conference, themed “Human Capital for Viksit Bharat,” highlighted sports and extracurricular activities as crucial for youth development and nation-building. Chief Secretary Rastogi stressed the importance of timely implementation of approved action points and urged departments to work together to achieve the outlined objectives.
Director (Sports) Parth Gupta shared that Haryana is in the process of revising its Sports Policy, last updated in 2015. A dedicated group is examining the current framework to propose reforms aligned with the latest national sports policy and modern sports administration needs. The revision aims to enhance athlete welfare, talent development programs, sports infrastructure, and institutional support.
Haryana’s ambitious ‘Mission Olympics 2036 — Vijayee Bhavah’ aims to identify talented children aged 8-10 for systematic training and future Olympic participation. The program, to be run through the Sports University of Haryana, has secured seed funding approval. In a move towards athlete-centered governance, officials introduced the Khelo Haryana App, a digital platform consolidating athlete welfare schemes and services.
Efforts are underway to develop a technology-driven system to monitor sporting competitions from the block to state level and maintain a real-time inventory of sports infrastructure across Haryana. This platform will enhance planning, monitoring, and utilization of sports facilities statewide.
