The BJP expressed satisfaction with a Delhi court’s decision to convict former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain for the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma during the 2020 city riots. They called for an apology from Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly protecting his party colleague and criticized the Congress for engaging in appeasement politics. The party accused Kejriwal and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of fostering a divisive political environment during the riots.
The BJP National Spokesperson highlighted that the court’s ruling revealed the questionable political practices of Kejriwal and the Congress leadership. They claimed that Kejriwal supported Tahir Hussain, while Congress leaders contributed to escalating tensions during the riots through appeasement strategies. The spokesperson emphasized that the court’s decision, based on evidence and witness testimonies, brought justice to Ankit Sharma, who was brutally murdered while on duty.
According to the BJP, Tahir Hussain’s actions reflected animosity towards the law and Hindus. The party alleged that Hussain, considered close to Kejriwal within the AAP, made provocative statements and orchestrated the incident that led to Sharma’s tragic death. The BJP criticized Sonia Gandhi and Kejriwal for engaging in what they described as opportunistic politics, prioritizing religious affiliations over justice for victims.
The BJP National Spokesperson posed questions to Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi, demanding explanations for their actions following the riots. They questioned Kejriwal’s alleged role in inciting hatred and sought accountability for Hussain’s actions. Additionally, the party criticized Rahul Gandhi for visiting a mosque post-riots instead of offering condolences to Ankit Sharma’s family, labeling his visit as a form of appeasement politics rather than genuine empathy.
