The discovery of a local BJP worker’s body in Raidighi, South 24 Parganas district, has caused tension in the area. The deceased, identified as Kishor Majhi, was the vice-president of the BJP unit for Booth No. 216. His mutilated body was found near a pond close to his home, leading to his death despite efforts to save him at the hospital.
Police investigations indicate that the incident may have resulted from a personal relationship dispute. Initially, three individuals were detained for questioning, but the deceased worker’s wife, Anima Das, and her alleged lover, Gobinda Haldar, were later arrested based on a complaint by the deceased man’s father.
The deceased worker’s sister-in-law accused their neighbor, Gobinda Haldar, of the crime due to an illicit relationship. The Superintendent of Police for the Sundarbans Police District confirmed the ongoing interrogation of the arrested individuals. The incident has sparked a political dispute, with the BJP candidate for the Raidighi Assembly constituency demanding justice and the Trinamool Congress denying any involvement.
