At least five BJP workers sustained injuries when crude bombs were thrown at them in the Panihati area of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. The incident occurred shortly after the murder of Chandranath Rath, a longtime aide of Suvendu Adhikari. Eyewitnesses reported that several miscreants on bikes approached the BJP workers and hurled bombs at them on Dutta Road in Ward No. 2 of Panihati Municipality.
The attackers quickly fled the scene after throwing three bombs, leaving the injured BJP workers behind. The victims, in critical condition, were rushed to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, local police officers and central forces arrived at the site to restore order and conducted patrols in the area.
Responding to the violence, Suvendu Adhikari condemned the bombing and linked it to ongoing political tensions in the state. He criticized the alleged politics of revenge that has plagued West Bengal for years, emphasizing the need to address such violent acts. The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the bombing, though the latter has not officially commented on the incident.
In the aftermath of the West Bengal Assembly election results, reports of post-poll violence have surfaced across the state. Instances of attacks on both Trinamool Congress and BJP workers have been reported, prompting authorities to pledge firm action against those responsible for such acts of violence.
