Bharatiya Janata Party national General Secretary Tarun Chugh criticized the special session of the Punjab Assembly scheduled for May 1, calling it a “wasteful political circus and a drain on the state exchequer.” Chugh accused the Bhagwant Mann government of misusing the Assembly to manage internal issues and divert attention from public dissatisfaction with its performance.
Chugh demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann justify the session by showcasing the achievements of his government in the past four years, highlighting concerns of corruption, lawlessness, and internal conflicts within the ruling party. He urged the government to prioritize releasing Rs 15,000 crore for dearness allowance and pending employee dues instead of engaging in theatrics on Labour Day.
The BJP leader criticized both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, alleging a collusive relationship between the two in Punjab. Chugh accused them of being allies in Delhi while pretending to be opponents in Punjab, asserting that the Congress has failed as an effective opposition party. He also targeted Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, urging him to focus on questioning the government’s actions rather than supporting the Aam Aadmi Party’s agenda.
