Kashish Fulwariya, aged 22, is the youngest corporator from the BJP, elected in the recent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls. Despite her civic responsibilities, she is currently pursuing an MBA. Fulwariya aims to engage more young individuals in politics and local governance, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for their trust in her.
Balancing her academic pursuits with public duties poses a challenge for Fulwariya, but she finds it motivating. She is determined to meet the high expectations placed on her and is dedicated to earning the people’s trust through hard work. Fulwariya plans to prioritize enhancing drainage systems and completing pending civic projects in her ward.
Fulwariya acknowledges her parents’ significant influence, as they have been actively involved in politics for over two decades. She values their guidance and support, regularly seeking their advice. Emphasizing the role of technology in governance, Fulwariya intends to focus on grassroots initiatives and assist people in utilizing technology to access government programs effectively.
Expressing a mix of nervousness and excitement, Fulwariya looks forward to her responsibilities with enthusiasm. The municipal corporation election results across Maharashtra, excluding Mumbai, highlighted the BJP’s success in various cities, either securing clear majorities or emerging as the largest party. The Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, retained control in key areas, while other parties like the Congress, NCP factions, AIMIM, and local groups secured victories in specific regions, indicating a varied but BJP-dominated outcome in urban Maharashtra.
