A blast occurred near a railway track in Patiala, Punjab, with no significant damage reported. The incident took place late on Monday night, near the Shambhu-Ambala rail track. Authorities discovered an unidentified body at the site, but it remains unclear if it is connected to the explosion.
The blast resulted in partial damage to the railway track, according to Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police Varun Sharma. The explosion, suspected to be an attempted detonation, occurred around 10 p.m. near a track mainly used for freight trains.
Senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the SSP, promptly responded to the scene for assessment and investigation following the incident. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) criticized the state government for what they perceive as a deteriorating law-and-order situation, with SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal condemning the incident as a “serious intelligence failure.”
SAD General Secretary Bikram Singh Majithia also voiced concerns over recent security incidents, questioning the government’s response and calling for urgent action to address the situation. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the blast and the discovery of the unidentified body.
