A total of 25 BNP MPs are set to be sworn in as Ministers in the Cabinet, with 24 others becoming state ministers in Bangladesh’s newly elected government. The list of Ministers includes prominent names like Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. Additionally, two BNP leaders will take oath as Technocrat Ministers.
The MPs are expected to take their oaths as Ministers in the Cabinet shortly. During a BNP Parliamentary Party meeting, the MPs announced their decision not to accept duty-free vehicles or government plots. Reports indicate that 45 government vehicles were prepared for the new Ministers.
Following the swearing-in of all 209 winning BNP candidates as members of Parliament, they declined to take the Constitution Reform Council oath. BNP leader Salauddin Ahmed stated that all newly elected BNP MPs were instructed not to sign the Constitution Reform Council form. This led to the refusal of 11-party alliance parties to take parliamentary oaths.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath to the newly elected MPs, a historic moment in the country’s parliamentary history. Tarique Rahman was elected as the Leader of the BNP Parliamentary Party, positioning him to take the oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
