A decomposed body of an unidentified man was discovered from a raw drain surrounded by bushes along the National Highway in Mauganj district of Madhya Pradesh. The body, in a severely decomposed state, appeared to have been dumped around 10 to 15 days earlier, estimated to be of a male aged between 30 and 35 years.
The body was spotted by a truck driver who noticed a strong odor while briefly halting near the highway. It was found lying approximately 15 meters away from the National Highway connecting Rewa to Mirzapur-Banaras in Uttar Pradesh via Mauganj. The police were alerted by a nearby shop owner who contacted Dial 112 upon discovering the body.
Efforts are being made by the Mauganj police to identify the deceased individual. Information has been shared with nearby police stations, and missing persons reports from Mauganj, Rewa, and Sidhi districts are under scrutiny. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, identification is challenging, and authorities are awaiting the autopsy report or a potential claimant.
The body was found in an agricultural area along the national highway outside Mauganj city, with minimal roadside stalls and food carts visible during the day. While it is unclear how the body ended up at the site, the police are exploring various angles, including the possibility that the crime occurred elsewhere and the body was disposed of in a different location to conceal evidence.
